For Guitar Orchestra
The music is commendably clear on the page, but players might not
realise, until they see the full score, that there are complex
synchronisation issues across the parts. That, and changes of speed,
suggest to me that a conductor is needed in order to show where the
beats are - in a conductor-less ensemble there are places where two
separate lines would not find it obvious which notes must marry up with
one's fellow player and which are 'in the gaps'.
In terms of complexity, it's exactly this - the rhythm - which is much
harder than the furtive fitnessing of fingers on frets. I'd put the
note-making at Grade 6 and the rhythm a little above Grade 8.
There is a version on YouTube that not only lets you experience the
fantastic range of tone colours and effects, but also lets you hear when
synchronisation slides on a slippery slope.
